THERE’S NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (but plenty of old to dig up)

Hey, I just wanted to post a note saying that I’ve been unable to add any new content in the last couple of weeks, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to read and be challenged by on this blog.

Please take the time to read – or reread – some of my older posts, then comment if you’d like. Or don’t. But at least give yourself the opportunity to digest some of the rich, provocative articles on these pages.

DIGGING DEEP

Then check out the SEE, HEAR, READ and ACT pages if you never have. There’s powerful and moving music, incredible books to read, people to pray for, and opportunities to serve if you dig just a bit.

Take the time. That’s right … breathe in slowly, then exhale fully until you are completely ready to relax, open your mind and spend an hour or so mining for the gold that you’ll find here.

And don’t just be moved when God’s Spirit speaks to you – be changed. Allow God – give permission to Him – to CHANGE you. We always talk about that, but do we really live our lives differently after God moves upon us? Most of the time we don’t. Our daily lives go right back to where they were before we had a wonderful experience with the Lord. You know it’s true! What are you going to do about it in your life?

How about getting serious, throwing out all the excuses, and taking the risk that God really does have your best interests at heart, and isn’t going to give you anything you can’t bear? What are you afraid of?

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Tim. 1:7

  1. I am so grateful for that prayer and the change in our lives. Our mission is this little girl, our daughter. God put a yearning in my heart to save a child that was unwanted. All that child needed was love. I also encourage all to look at your lives and maybe foster or adopt. To see all ages of children, from babies all the way up to teens. If you have a roof over your head, and love to give, give it.

Also I wanted to comment and say there were some, only a few that supported us through this. Most of all Uncle Dennis and Aunt Sharon, have been there with us through all of this. In support of what God was doing in my life. Thank you guys, I really appreciate and love you both…

  2. Dennisup,

Great to see you posting again.

It’s been a while since we have heard from you, and I am sure that I can speak for many of your readers that we are waiting for more provocative words of wisdom to come forth.

    You stated:

“Allow God – give permission to Him – to CHANGE you. We always talk about that, but do we really live our lives differently after God moves upon us?”

It seems that many allow God to move, but they limit Him to the confines of the space, structure or assembly that they find themselves in. God is so much greater than any space, time, structure or assembly. I find it ironic that people earnestly pray for “radical” change in their lives and when that radical change starts to take place it must be tempered as to not “really” change their current status or placement.

In my own life I can remember the exact place that my wife and I held hands just prior to her leaving for Beijing, China. Our prayer was the simplest that we had ever prayed. God, change us in a most radical way that we may HONOR YOU and You alone. Move us where you want us and mold us as you will.

In the following months a change had occurred. My wife was suspected of being depressed after a mission trip and my actions were called “non-christian” by a pastor that I was serving under. All because we were being “RADICALLY” changed. We both needed to GO and there was no acceptance or encouragement to be found anywhere.

The transition was painful and difficult but WE knew that this was a move of GOD and none other. We forged ahead and continued to flail around in what seemed like a wilderness with no vision for what was ahead.

We knew deep in our hearts that there was an end to this path that we were on, and in God’s timing we would see.

Well we have seen, touched, felt and heard God’s plan and vision.

For this time he had moved us from there to here. To a place of full-time sacrifice to another, not unlike James the brother of Jesus taught us too when he told us to care for the widows and orphans.

Our end is in the life of a little girl born into poverty and degradation.

We were radically “CUT OFF” from the assembly and structure that we were in and it was NOT for naught. It was and is for the ultimate glory of God. We prayed: “Change us God,” and He surely did.

I encourage everyone that reads Dennis’s post to take his message to heart, and discern the way that God is moving you. Do not assume to believe that He is only changing you to keep you in the same place that you are comfortable in. Jesus sent the disciples out, into the wilderness, into the unknown in order to serve His will and the will of the Father. BE MOVED so you can touch, feel, taste and see the GLORY of our God.

    PEACE
