Haiti's Presidential Palace, devastated

Is it just another tragic news report, or does this latest human calamity impact us in a very real way? How does God view these events?

What do we do now?

Weep with those who weep … mourn with those who mourn … and try to understand their suffering as they cry out to God to save them.

Look for ways to give … to the Red Cross or another group that’s on the ground helping.

And pray. Always pray without ceasing, for rescue from death, for water to be delivered, for food and strength and warmth and love. Pray that the Love of God reaches the people of Haiti through those who know Him. Let all Christians on the scene be living witnesses for His Glory.

And empathize. Always attempt to see things through God’s eyes, because that’s the only way to truly understand the scope of suffering and salvation, and the eternal weight of catastrophes like this.

  1. Remember, O Lord, the God of Spirits and of all Flesh, those whom we have remembered and those whom we have not remembered, men of the true faith, from righteous Abel unto to-day; do thou thyself give them rest there in the land of the living, in thy kingdom, in the delight of Paradise, in the bosom of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, our holy fathers, from whence pain and sorrow and sighing have fled away, where the light of thy countenance visiteth them and always shineth upon them.

Bring peace to those in turmoil, healing to those wounded, courage to those lost and a friend to those abandoned.
